Fashion’s biggest night of the year took place last night, 4th may 2026, and it is all anyone is talking about. The theme for this year's event was ‘Costume Art’. The dress code for this year's event is Fashion is Art, which fit well with the theme of the event and allowed for, if not encouraged, creativity by the designers.
This year's Met Gala saw Beyoncé as a co-chair joined by Nicole Kidman, tennis champ Venus Williams and the one who runs it all, Vogue's Anna Wintour. The ‘Host Committee’ was chaired by Zoë Kravitz and Anthony Vaccarello, and featured names from Sabrina Carpenter and Teyana Taylor to Lena Dunham and Misty Copeland.
The exhibition addressed “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection,” per curator Andrew Bolton, it saw paintings, sculptures and objects spanning the 5000 years of art represented in the Met, along with contemporary and historical garments from the Costume Institute.
This year's red carpet was always going to sparkle, however the carat count was truly jawdropping, the ‘Costume Art’ exhibition saw guests really step into jewels worthy of a museum, some so remarkable they had their own security.
