Meet Rachel
Rachel is one of the UK's most highly credentialed jewellery valuers. Her journey in the jewellery industry began at just 15, working at a local jewellers where she quickly developed a real love and appreciation for the craft.
She gained valuable early insight into the creation of bespoke jewellery and the meaningful role it plays in people’s lives, with each piece often carrying cherished memories and personal stories.
Over the following decade, Rachel completed a range of qualifications in jewellery and gemmology, establishing herself as a highly respected jewellery valuer.
Rachels Qualifications
FGA - Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain
The Gem-A FGA is one of the most respected gemmology qualifications in the world. It demonstrates an advanced level of expertise in identifying and grading gemstones, and is widely recognised across the jewellery industry for its rigorous academic and practical standards.
GIA Graduate - Gemological Institute of America
Rachel is a GIA graduate in Diamond grading and Coloured Gemstone grading.
These qualifications are an internationally recognised credential awarded by the Gemological Institute of America, one of the global leaders in diamond grading and education. It provides in-depth training in all aspects of Diamond grading and coloured gemstone grading.
CPAA Pearl Specialist
The CPAA/SSEF Pearl Specialist qualification is a highly respected certification in the pearl industry. Developed through leading gemmological organisations, it covers advanced expertise in understanding indentification, pearl quality grading, structure, and origin.

IRV Registered
IRV valuers are highly regulated and continuously keep their skills and knowledge up to date to reflect changes in the market and industry best practice.
Rachel has been an IRV for over 8 years, ensuring every valuation she carries out is completed to highest standards of professionalism and accuracy, giving customers complete confidence in the service they recieve for their treasured items.

Member of the Academy of Experts
Rachel is a member of the Academy of Experts (MAE) in fine jewellery, requiring a high level of specialist knowledge and experience in providing independent valuations and expert opinion in formal and legal contexts, including court proceedings.
As one of only a few MAE jewellery specialists in the UK, it also reflects the level of expertise she brings to her role at Hatton Jewels

Experience
Rachel has worked in the jewellery industry for over sixteen years, developing a wide and in-depth understanding of both fine jewellery and the wider market. Over this time, she has seen how trends, tastes, and values have evolved, giving her a strong appreciation of how pieces are bought, sold, and treasured in different ways.
